Privacy & Accessibility
Cross Off is a paper to-do list you cross off with real highlighter strokes. It is free, carries no ads, and is made by Sky Wolf Studio.
Where your list goes
Nowhere. Every page, task, note, highlighter stroke and personal record is kept in this browser's localStorage under the key `crossoff.v1`, with an in-memory fallback if the browser refuses to store anything. There is no upload, no server-side processing, no account, and no copy held anywhere we can reach. We could not hand your list to anyone if we were asked for it, because we do not have it.
How to check that for yourself
Turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data, reload, and use the whole app. It works, because everything is cached on your device and the app has nothing to call. Open DevTools → Network while you write tasks and you will see no requests at all.
What we do not do
- No account, no sign-in, no email address collected.
- No ads, no analytics, no trackers, no cookies, no fingerprinting.
- No selling, sharing or brokering of anything you write here. There is no data to sell.
- No paywall, no trial, no subscription, no locked features.
Permissions
None. The app asks for no camera, no microphone, no location, no contacts and no notifications. The small buzz on a crossed-off task uses the standard vibration setting of your phone and sends nothing anywhere.
Who else is involved
- Firebase Hosting (Google) serves the app's static files and keeps ordinary short-lived web-server logs such as IP addresses. That log records that a browser fetched a page. It cannot record anything you write, because what you write is never sent to the host.
Children
This app is made for adults. It is not directed at children, and it collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
Accessibility
The highlighter drag is the fun way to cross a task off, never the only way: every task has an edit button that works by keyboard, and the edit sheet has a plain "cross it off" button that draws the stroke for you. Timers and records are announced to screen readers, focus is visible and returned after every sheet, sounds have a mute that also quiets the vibration, and the animations rest when your system asks for reduced motion.
